Download a one-page worksheet to compare two watercolor paper samples with your own tools. Choose A4 or US Letter, record the labels, repeat the same marks and keep the results together.

Before you start
- Give each sample a short name and copy its surface, gsm and composition from the label.
- Choose the tools and paint you intend to use. Record them once for the comparison.
- Try a fine line, a small wash and a dry brush mark, or substitute three marks relevant to your work.
- Look at both samples again when dry. Record what you observed, without assuming the surface was the only difference.
This is a suggested comparison exercise, not a standardized laboratory test. Keep the actual samples with the sheet if you want a visual reference for future purchases.
What the sheet records
- Brand or range, surface, gsm, stated composition and format for each sample.
- The shared paint, tools, area and water approach used for the exercise.
- Separate observations for a fine line, small wash and dry brush mark.
- One short choice for the next project, with the reason beside it.
